In the event of an accident, early emergency assistance can increase the chances for the victim to be safe. According to the St John Ambulance organization, an estimated 15,000 victims can be rescued each year if more people learn how to do emergency first aid. Therefore, first aid skills are very important to learn and master.

Case Study 1: Impact of Not Knowing CPR & First Aid


Amat and Ali have been best friends since elementary school. At this age, too, they have become obsessed with high-powered cars and aspire to buy them when they are already working. Apparently, their interest never fades when they each buy a high-powered cars when they enter the workforce.

Amat and Ali joined a car club to further their hobby. Their club often makes road trip every month. One day, Ali and Abu planned to ride a motorcycle together from Kuching to Serian, Sarawak. They began to race to show the power of their machinery.

Unfortunately, Ali lost control at a speed of 120km /h. Ali's body thrown out of car and rolled 100 meters before it stopped. Amat immediately check up on his friend and contacted the ambulance. Amat wanted to give treatment to his friend, but it was feared that his condition would worsen.

Unfortunately for Amat, Ali's breathing stopped before the ambulance arrived. The ambulance said Ali could have been rescued if Abu had first given first aid. Abu regretted the death of his friend and from that day on, Abu began to learn about first aid.

Case Study 2: Wrong CPR & First Aid Procedure


Bahar is a factory operator. He has no knowledge of first aid through the right sources. Most of the knowledge he gained about first aid was through drama and film, and he was convinced that first aid through drama and film was correct.

One day, one of the factory machines cut off his colleague's wrist. The blood is gushing out like a pipe leakage. Bahar acted fast. He immediately used a tourniquet to tie his friend's wrists to stop the bleeding while waiting for help to arrive, as is often the case in the movie

However, his co-workers began to feel seizures all over his hands. When help arrived, the doctor scolded Bahar because if the doctor was slow to provide help, his colleague's hand might become paralyzed because the wrong first aid method. From that day on, Bahri began to recite. He began to learn first-aid techniques from a qualified coach.

Case Study 3: Benefit of Knowing CPR & First Aid


Abu is a high school student. He is the chairman of the red crescent association club. He was appointed because of his skills to provide proper assistance. Abu starts to learn CPR & First Aid after finding out that his father has a heart problem.He also thinks that if his dad's heart stopped suddenly, he could perform CPR on his father.

Apparently, the thing he was afraid of did happened when in the middle of the night. All of sudden, his father began to suffer shortness of breath and faint. Abu's mother immediately called an ambulance. Abu immediately gave up CPR because he knew if he did not undergo CPR, his father would die.

Her father began to regain conscious when Abu give him CPR and at the same time an ambulance arrived. The medical team said that if Abu hadn't performed CPR, his father might have passed away. The medical team praised Din for his skill and agility in the situation. DIn was relieved and proud that his first aid had saved his father.
